NORTH CAROLINA — ‘Tis the season to get spooked and scared — and there’s no shortage of haunted attractions in the Tar Heel State. Here’s a look at some of the spookiest sites to scare up a terrifying good time for Halloween 2019.

Carowinds, 14523 Carowinds Blvd., Charlotte, NC

Say organizers: “Fear rises when darkness falls as Carowinds is transformed from a ‘theme park’ into a ‘scream park’ during the annual Halloween haunt of SCarowinds. Experience the thrills of your favorite rides and the chills of terrifying haunted attractions and shows. With over 500 ghastly monsters waiting to feed off your screams in our haunted mazes, there’s no place to hide during the Carolinas’ largest Halloween event.”

Ghost Train
Tweetsie Railroad, 300 Tweetsie Railroad Lane, Blowing Rock, NC

Say organizers: “Tweetsie Railroad transforms from the Wild West into a haunted park with Halloween thrills and chills for all ages. The highlight of each evening is a nighttime ride on the Ghost Train, other spooky attractions include the Haunted House and the Freaky Forest. Younger ghouls will enjoy dressing up in their Halloween costume, trick-or-treating on Main Street, watching the Black Light Puppet Show and taking in the amusement rides in the Creepy Carnival.

Scarrigan Farms

Say organizers: “On select October nights our 170 acre farm is transformed into the scariest haunted trail in the region. If you are looking for a new and out of the ordinary way to get your heart pumping and adrenaline rushing this October, Scarrigan Farms is the place for you. This is not a trail for kids. If you’re under 12 come back when you’re old enough. We’ll be waiting. If someone hasn’t peed in their pants by the end of the night we know we haven’t done our job.”

Hickory Grove Haunted Trail
Mountain View Golf Center, 4064 Mountain View Street, Gastonia, NC

Say organizers: “Settled in the backwoods of the South Fork River, the Hickory Grove Haunted Trail is one of the original and oldest haunted attractions in the Charlotte, N.C. area. The staff here at HGHT is dedicated to giving our visitors the thrill they are seeking. Our guides will lead you through a dark winding path filled with uncertainty and suspense! If you’re ready for a heart pounding stroll on a brisk autumn night. If you have a passion for Horror or are curious about the unknown or unseen. We dare you to enter our woods!”

Camp Fear

Midway Wicked Woods
114 Midway Drive, Statesville, NC

Say organizers: “Come join us and walk the “Midway Wicked Woods” during our 24th year. You will be transported on a wagon to the entrance, where you will be dropped off to walk the “Midway Wicked Woods” unguided and on your own! In the darkness of night you will walk the trail through many scary buildings, a 600ft totally dark maze and hold on tight as you venture into the spinning “Tunnel of Terror”. Be sure to wear the 3D glasses in our 3D Clown Room!
You will walk through the Haunted Graveyard where the Dead Are NOT Always DEAD. See if you can make it out ALIVE! During the Harvest Moon be on the look out for Wicked Willie. He will be watching and waiting for you!”
